The Zulu people have regard for the praying mantis, known as isithwalambiza in isiZulu. It is known as ugogo, whichthe Zulus translate as "the granny." They interpret it as being a female ancestor spirit. A message from the ancestors isthought to have been left if this creature shows up at a Zulu person's home. A Zulu beer is typically created when apraying mantis appears because the dead need to drink. Therefore the corn is a representation of food/ zulu beer(umqombothi) It's also thought that the praying mantis might make an appearance after defending a person fromharm. You shouldn't touch this monster when it rst appears because it will vanish on its own. There should be nokilling of praying mantises
