Clint Strydom's Hidden shadows and Silent Voices of Prison Number 4 , The Melrose Gallery x Constitution Hill

The exhibition aims to capture and portray the essence of this nefarious prison and its impact on the people who were incarcerated here including the likes of Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi, Robert Sobukwe and Oliver Tambo amongst thousands of others.

The photographs were taken in the infamous Number 4 Prison Section using a high definition Hasselblad camera and they were then printed and framed using the modern Diasec method. The juxtaposition of the large ultra-modern photographs against the rough cell walls will add to the impact of the exhibition.
