“Although I never trained formally as an artist, creativity has always been part of who I am. After years working in mining and training, a simple bag of clay reignited my passion and set me on an unexpected path. My work blends humour, imagination, and social commentary—each piece is a playful reflection on the world around us, and a reminder that it’s never too late to rediscover what truly inspires you.”
Born in Kimberley, Mark grew up in the small mining towns of Stilfontein and Klerksdorp. These close-knit communities fostered his appreciation for storytelling and the everyday personalities that would later influence his artistic style. As a child, he was drawn to sketching and visual expression. Though he later began studying graphic design, he soon realised that the constraints of formal training did not align with his creative instincts.
