A Continent Up Close: 16 Artists from 8 Countries, One continent

9 Jul - 30 Aug 2026

A Continent, Up Close — Directors' Selection brings together sixteen artists working across painting, photography, sculpture and works on paper, from eight countries across the Continent and the Diaspora, in an exhibition of works made to be lived with — chosen personally by the gallery's directors for the intimacy of the encounter they invite.

Scale changes how we look. A monumental canvas commands a room; a small work draws you toward it. It asks to be approached, held in the eye at arm's length, returned to daily. These are works made for the lived space, where art becomes a companion rather than an occasion.

Across the exhibition, the concerns are anything but small: memory and migration, spirit and street, pattern, light and play. Alexis Daniel Onguene Tassi, whose work featured in Memory in Motion, continues that exhibition's conversation in a new register, joined by voices ranging from the luminous abstraction of Paul Blomkamp to Clint Strydom's photographic poetry, Hussein Salim's chromatic fields and Carol Cauldwell's irreverent sculptural wit.
